Bret Michaels was rushed to an undisclosed hospital and admitted to ICU Thursday night, April 22, after suffering from a massive brain hemorrhage.
The 47-year-old singer, most recently starring on Donald Trump’s “Celebrity Apprentice”, remains hospitalized in Arizona. Bret Michaels’ father, Wallace Sychak, told “Extra” that he spoke to Bret and says he sounded a little bit slow, but fine. Sychak also told Extra that “They say he’s moving his arms and hands. The best as they could expect at this time.”
Arno Fried, chairman of Neurosurgery at Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack, New Jersey, told ABC’s Good Morning America, “The fact that he’s made it to a hospital and is apparently in some sort of reasonable condition . . . that’s a good sign.” Fried added, “If the bleed has not caused too much damage, the possibility of recovery is quite good.”
Bret Michaels’ “Celebrity Apprentice” co-stars are expressing their sympathy for the former Poison lead singer.
“[It's] just hideous,” Sharon Osbourne told UsMagazine.com. “It’s devastating, and it makes you feel all these different feelings. Your heart goes out to his family, your heart goes out to him. He’s the nicest guy in the world. And then you start thinking about your own mortality. You start thinking, Oh my God. It just makes you appreciate how lucky we all are.” Sharon Osborn’s well wishes via twitter read, “I’m thinking of you and wishing you a speedy recovery.”
Cyndi Lauper told E! Online that she is hoping for Bret Michaels to have “a speedy recovery”. Lauper also said, “He is a strong-willed person so I am feeling very positive that he will pull through like a champion. My thoughts are with his family.”
Donald Trump, spoke to Matt Lauer on the “Today” show on Tuesday, April 27, about Bret Michaels’ current condition, noting that Michaels is known for his dedication and work ethic.
“He’s diabetic, and he was working 24 hours a day,” Trump told Lauer . “This guy really was a competitor. He would work so hard, maybe harder than anybody else. And he’s doing well.”
Every season, “Celebrity Apprentice” has a live season finale, and Trump isn’t anticipating that Michaels will be on hand for it when it happens in four weeks. “We’ve never been confronted with anything like this. … I can’t imagine he’s going to be in the final,” Trump explained. “But knowing Bret, he might very well be. I just hope he makes it. Forget the show. He’s such a good guy.”
