Bengals’ Chad Ochocinco and partner Cheryl Burke were eliminated on the May 18 Dancing with the Stars results show.
Ochocinco and Burke chose the waltz for the ballroom round. The judges seemed impressed, and Len Goodman noted that Ochocino is the only celeb in the semifinals without any dance experience prior to the show. They took on the samba for dance number two, a dance that judges said was the toughest of the night. Tonioli joked that after seeing Ochocinco dance with his shirt open, he “will never take my clothes off again!” Ochocino and Burke received 52 points out of 60, which was the lowest score of the four couples Monday night. Nicole Scherzinger and partner Derek Hough scored 59 out of 60, Evan Lysacek and partner Anna Trebunskaya also scored 59 out of 60, and Erin Andrews and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy received a score of 56 out of 60.
Ochocinco and Burke joined host and producer of the Style Network’s home makeover show Clean House Niecy Nash and her partner professional dancer Louis Van Amstel in the bottom two last week – Niecy Nash and Louis Van Amstel went home last Tuesday.
“This was awesome,” said NFL star Chad Ochocinco to the crowd after being eliminated. “I enjoyed the journey, I met some wonderful people, I got some great criticism that’s only made me stronger, and I’ll miss ‘em all, especially the beautiful Cheryl Burke. And in my eyes really, I’ve already won.”
“Chad is the most humble guy you’ll ever meet,” said Ochocino’s dance partner Cheryl Burke. “The most amazing, soft, gentle man in the world, and I’ve had such an amazing experience with you, thank you.”
Ochocinco was the seventh current or former NFL player to appear on the show, which is in its 10th season. Jerry Rice (second season), Emmitt Smith (third-season champion), Jason Taylor (sixth-season runner-up), Warren Sapp (seventh-season runner-up), Lawrence Taylor (eighth season) and Michael Irvin (ninth season) were the others.
The remaining couples of Dancing with the Stars season 10 are ESPN reporter Erin Andrews and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy, the lead singer of The Pussycat Dolls Nicole Scherzinger and partner Derek Hough, and finally World Figure Skating Champion Evan Lysacek and partner Anna Trebunskaya.
When the season began, this trio was actually predicted to be the final three standing.
The season will continue next week on Monday, May 24, with week ten performances by the remaining 3 couples.
