Game 6 may have been the last game Amare Stoudemire will play with the Phoenix Suns. He can opt out of the final year of his contract and says it is 50/50 that he might play somewhere else next year.
“I’m not sure what the future holds right now,” he said, “so I’m just going to take a couple of days, enjoy the family and enjoy the rest and start figuring out the next move.”
Kobe Bryant received a lot of praise for his performance this series.
“Kobe’s so good, ” Lamar Odom said, “he makes incredible normal for us.”
“Kobe was the man tonight,” Lakers coach Phil Jackson said.
“I always thought he was the best player in basketball,” Phoenix Suns coach Alvin Gentry said.
The Lakers led by as many as 18 points, but the Suns were able to get back within 5 points towards the end of the 4th quarter.
“With a 3-point shooting team like Phoenix,” Jackson said, “you know that any lead is not impossible.”
The Los Angeles Lakers will now move on the NBA Finals again and will face the Boston Celtics. Boston won the Eastern Conference Finals against the Orlando Magic in 6 games. The first game in the NBA Playoffs Finals will be Thursday, June 3, in Los Angeles.
