Musician Alanis Morissette and Rapper Souleye got married in a private ceremony at their home in Los Angeles on May 22, 2010. The wedding ceremony for Alanis Morissette, age 36, and Mario “Souleye” Treadway, age 30, was attended by family and close friends.
“So happy to share with you that my man Souleye and I got married,” Morissette posted to Twitter. “We’re very excited to embark on this journey with each other.”
Rapper Souleye is a 30 year old underground American freestyle rapper. Souleye has performed with DJ’s and MC’s such as Bassnectar, The Glitch Mob, String Cheese Incident, Michael Franti, Sound Tribe Sector 9, and has performed at festivals Coachella, Burning Man, Ultra Music Festival, South By Southwest, Symbiosis, Harmony and Shambhala as well as numerous others across America, Canada, Europe and Australia.
Alanis Morissette was previously engaged to actor Ryan Reynolds (who is now dating actress Scarlett Johansson). Morissette and Reynolds called off their wedding in 2007, despite comments she made in 2004 about the relationship.
“I think for a long time, because of my compulsively wanting to be viewed as an überfeminist, I would really stay away from things like being a hopeless romantic, being dependent on a man, or even wanting to be with a man, frankly,” Alanis Morissette said back in 2004. “[Now] I look forward to growing old with my boyfriend, the both us growing old and wrinkly together. I heard this really great metaphor, that being in a long-term relationship is like a Ferris wheel, whether you stay when it’s on the bottom or whether you get off, and I’m realizing at this point in my life that I’m not getting off, finally. Now I know it’s an ongoing journey of us helping each other, healing each other, killing each other, laughing together. It’s sexy, it’s everything.”
