iPhone 4.0 Sales Reach More Than 1.7 Million

Despite the recent problems and complaints about the new iPhone 4.0, Apple has sold over 1.7 million of them in three days (through Saturday, June 26), exceeding records of all its predecessors.

Many Apple fans were very eager to get their hands on the new iPhone 4. The new features such as FaceTime® (video calling) and the new Retina display (the highest resolution display ever built into a phone) made it a must have. Click here to read about all of the new iPhone 4.0 features.

The launch of the very first iPhone took 74 days to reach the sales that the iPhone 4 has reached in just 3 days. It is apparent that Apple has built quite the following for the iPhone.

“This is the most successful product launch in Apple’s history,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “Even so, we apologize to those customers who were turned away because we did not have enough supply.”

Some customers are waiting for the white iPhone 4.0 to come out. Currently, the iPhone 4.0 only comes in black. Apple released a statement regarding the white iPhone saying, “White models of Apple’s new iPhone® 4 have proven more challenging to manufacture than expected, and as a result they will not be available until the second half of July. The availability of the more popular iPhone 4 black models is not affected.”

Despite the record breaking demand for the new iPhone 4, a handful of complaints and problems have arised. The primary complaint being about the reception. Click here to read about the new iPhone 4.0 problems and complaints.

The most recent product launch before the iPhone 4 was the iPad. Sales of the iPad reached three million in 80 days.
