Derek Fisher to Meet with Pat Riley in Miami
Derek Fisher is said to be meeting with Miami Heat President Pat Riley on Saturday, July 10 in Miami.
Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard Derek Fisher is one of the many free agents this year. Sources say his preference is to stay with the Lakers, but he feels the need to explore his options. After Miami signed Chris Bosh and LeBron James and resigned Dwyane Wade, Fisher feels it is worth listening to Pat Riley’s pitch.
The Chicago Bulls and New Jersey Nets have also expressed an interest in Derek Fisher.
Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant has expressed his thoughts on Fisher’s free agency, saying he would like him to resign with the Lakers.
“We need to have him back, it’s as simple as that,” Kobe Bryant told ESPN. “It’s not a question of if he will be back; it’s a matter of when.
“I don’t care what [the cost] is. … They need to work that out and get him back because his significance to our ballclub and to me cannot be understated.”
Sources say the Lakers are confident that Fisher will resign.
