Paris Hilton was briefly detained by Corsica police Friday, July 16, after they discovered marijuana in her handbag when she arrived at the French island of Corsica by private jet.
Paris Hilton was reportedly carrying less than a gram of marijuana in her purse. She was not charged and was released shortly after the incident.
Earlier this month, on July 2, Paris Hilton was accused of smoking pot in South Africa at the World Cup soccer tournament.
Regarding the South Africa incident, Hilton’s rep said “The incident was a complete misunderstanding and it was actually another person in the group who did it,” the rep says. “The case has been dropped against Paris and no charges will be made. The authorities have apologized for wrongfully accusing her since she had nothing to do with the incident.”
The rep adds that Hilton is “having an incredible time at The World Cup and looks forward to going on a safari this week.”
Paris Hilton addressed the rumors of her arrest in Corsica via Twitter, saying, “Just to put an end to these rumors. The stories saying I have been arrested are completely false! I am having the best vacation of my life! What an amazing summer! I feel so blessed and grateful for everything. I Love Life!! :) Now let’s move on and everyone focus and enjoy their own summer time! Love you guys! Xo Paris”.
Paris Hilton is expected to continue her summer travels, heading next to Sardinia, Italy.
