President Barack Obama made an appearance today on the daytime television show The View and chatted about politics and pop-culture with the ladies.
Barbara Walters, who recently had heart surgery, cut her recovery time short to make the episode that taped Wednesday, July 28 and aired Thursday, July 29. Babara Walters joined the rest of the women from The View – Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Whoopi Goldberg and Sherri Shepherd – to take part in this historic event. Obama is the first sitting President to ever visit a daytime talk show.
President Obama is a smart man. He knows how to reach all audiences, including the millions of women who watch daytime talk shows.
During the show, Obama discussed political topics such as why he does not call himself bi-racial, the money that has been spent to stimulate the economy, and Congress’s vote to spend another 59 billion dollars on the war in Afghanistan. Then they had a little fun, by asking his opinion on some of the current happenings in the celebrity and entertainment world.
When asked by Joy Behar if Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, of the MTV reality show “Jersey Shore” should run for the Mayor of Wasilla, Obama laughed, then said, “I’ve got to admit, I don’t know who Snooki is.”
Interestingly enough, Obama made a joke about Snooki at the White House Press Correspondents Dinner earlier in the year.
“This next provision is called the Jersey Shore-Up. It reads, ‘The following individuals shall be excluded from the indoor tanning tax within this bill: Snooki, JWOWW, The Situation and House minority leader John Boehner.’”
So, either someone else wrote the joke for Obama and he’s never know who she is, or he has simply forgotten.
Obama was aware of Lindsay Lohan’s jail time, but seemed to be unaware of the Mel Gibson gossip.
“Does Mel Gibson need Anger Management?” Behar asked Obama,
“I haven’t seen a Mel Gibson movie in a while,” Obama replied, dodging the question.
