Six Mad Men style commercials have been created for several Unilever products to air during Mad Men this season. These unique vignettes will feature the fictional advertising agency Smith Winter Mitchell to promote for Dove, Breyers, Hellman’s, Klondike, Suave and Vaseline.
In each branded vignette, characters Phil Smith and Tad Winter, a copywriter and art director working at fictional 1960s ad agency Smith Winter Mitchell, discuss campaign ideas for the six Unilever brands. The commercials are created in a setting so much like Mad Men that consumers may mistake them as part of show. What’s great about Unilever taking this historical angle is that these brands were actually around back in the 1960′s, which reminds consumers of the longevity of these popular products.
The first vignette was for Dove, which premiered during the show on August 1. The other branded commercials will be aired throughout the Mad Men season.
