According to a new survey, 34 percent of current AT&T iPhone owners are waiting for the iPhone to be available on another carrier before upgrading. Furthermore, 47 percent of current AT&T iPhone customers say they would consider switching to Verizon.
Morpace, the market research firm that conducted the study, surveyed 1,000 consumers of all carriers, determining that almost of the AT&T iPhone customers would considering switching to Verizon.
With rumors that the iPhone will be available through Verizon by January 2011, these results could be serious cause for concern for AT&T.
The survey also said that 51 percent of current Verizon customers would considering switch to the iPhone if they carried it. This would cut into Android’s market share severely, making AT&T not the only loser in this scenario.
In addition, if Verizon gained a large number of iPhone users, could their network handle it? Everyone thinks Verizon has the best service, but putting that kind of strain on their bandwidth could result in a worsening connection for all Verizon customers.
