Brett Favre, the indecisive 40-year-old quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings, was flown into Minnesota on the Vikings private jet Tuesday, presumably with a decision on whether or not he will play this season. As of Wednesday morning, Favre was practicing with the team and is expected to make an announcement later today.
It was reported this morning morning that three Vikings teammates – defensive end Jared Allen, guard Steve Hutchinson and kicker Ryan Longwell – flew to Mississippi from Minnesota to speak with Favre. The three came back to Minnesota late this afternoon with Favre in tow. Once landed, the 4 Vikings went straight to Winter Park, the Minnesota Vikings headquarters.
According to Fox Sports, Favre has already told his three teammates that he will be returning for his 20th season. This rumor has not yet been confirmed by Favre or the Vikings team.
Favre has contemplated retiring the last three off-seasons, this time mostly due to the injury he sustained to his left ankle in the game against the New Orleans Saints in the playoffs last season. Favre had ankle surgery in May and met with Dr. James Andrews last week to try to determine why the ankle is still bothering him.
Favre led the Vikings to a 12-4 regular-season finish and the NFC title game last season.
