Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer and Eric Alexander Skaarsgard, the stars of HBO’s True Blood, bare it all with some dripping blood to shock readers, Lady Gaga VMA performance style. The September “hot, sexy and undead” issue of Rolling Stone is due to hit shelves September 2.
I have watched True Blood for a total of about 10 minutes (shame), and within those 10 minutes I was entirely distracted by and drawn to the nudity. Therefore I wouldn’t expect anything less than what this cover depicts. It’s anticipated that the magazine will be sold with a black placard in front of the controversial cover. Such censorship seems entirely unnecessary. You can barely see any body parts really, besides a couple side glutes. Our society is really too desensitized to be worried about some fleshy magazine cover. I digress.
The hemorrhaging trio play vampires and a telepath on the HBO hit series based off of the The Southern Vampire Mysteries novels written by Charlaine Harris. The series revolve around telepathic bar waitress Sooki Stackhouse (Paquin) who falls in love with vampire Bill Compton (Moyer) in the fictional town Bon Temps, Louisiana. True romance transpired into real life and Anna, 28, and Stephen, 40, have been engaged since August 2009. No wedding date as been set.
This summer Anna, who is originally from New Zealand, surprised fans when she publicly identified hereslf as bisexual (big deal) during a public service annoucement for the Give a Damn Campaign. Stephen, from Essex, England, was unphased by Anna’s disclosure on her sexuality when they first started dating. He mentioned to Playboy magazine that ”[he has] never been in a relationship before in which, literally within the first three days, all the cards were laid out.” Stephen added, “I have never trusted anybody like I trust Anna.” Anna’s co-star and fiance also has two children from previous relationships, according to People, “a son, Billy, born in 2000, and a daughter, Lilac, born in 2002.”
True Blood is in its third season and the fourth is already set for 2011. The show has received a huge following as well as critical acclaim and awards such as an Emmy and Golden Globe.
I look forward to the issue on newstands. I’ll be sure to ask my 4-year-old nephew what he thinks of the cover and featured photos.
