Mike Sorrentino, best known as “The Situation” from MTV’s hit reality TV show Jersey Shore, could make $5 million this year.
It is hard to believe (and stomach), that a Jersey Shore boy who became known just a year ago for his role on an MTV reality show, could earn $5 million in 2010.
It is being reported that Sorrentino is pulling in close to $60K per episode of Jersey Shore and $15,000 to $50,000 for appearances, which is estimated will equal close to $1 million.
In addition, Sorrentino is developing products such as an abs-focused fitness video, “The Situation Workout,” and a chewable supplement line associated with GNC.
Sorrentino has even started an autobiography, “Here’s the Situation.” Futhermore, he is signing to endorse a new vodka line that pays six-figures and includes partial ownership. He currently has endorsements with Vitamin Water and Reebok and a deal for a clothing line with Dilligaf. Finally, Sorrentino has a “GTL” app and a rap song on iTunes (in case you have been living under a rock, “GTL” stands for Gym, Tan, Laundry, an acronym that Sorrentino has made famous).
“We are really excited about all the opportunities coming Mike’s way,” said Sorrentino’s manager, Mike Petolino of Gotham Entertainment. “He has been able to secure many endorsement deals, business opportunities and additional television offers based on the success of the show. Our goal has always been to try to build a brand if the situation presented itself.”
“If you are a noncelebrity on a reality show, you are given an opportunity,” said entertainment attorney Steven Katleman of Greenberg Traurig. “It’s a platform. You have to use it intelligently.”
