Jimena Navarrete of Mexico Crowned Miss Universe 2010

Jimena Navarrete, 22, of Mexico was crowned Miss Universe 2010 by Miss Universe 2009 Stefania Fernandez on August 23 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, NV.

The top five women of the 2010 Miss Universe pageant were Jimena Navarrete of Mexico, Jesinta Campbell of Australia, Yendi Phillipps of Jamaica, Anna Poslavska of Ukraine and Venus Raj of the Philippines.

Yendi Phillipps, 19, of Jamaica was the first runner-up.

Jesinta Campbell of Australia was the second runner-up and was also named Miss Congeniality, which was voted by her peers.

Anna Poslavska of Ukraine came fourth ahead of Miss Philippines, Venus Raj, who came in fifth.

Miss Thailand, Fonthip Watcharatrakul, won Miss Photogenic and Best National Costume, voted by missuniverse.com visitors.

The latest celebrity apprentice from Donald Trump’s Celebrity Apprentice show, Bret Michaels, co-hosted the show with Natalie Morales.

Navarrete is Mexico’s second Miss Universe; Lupita Jones won the title in 1991.
