A helicopter and squad cars went on a search yesterday for rapper and producer Timbaland after his family called the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department reporting him missing and possibly suicidal.
The helicopter located Timbaland’s Escalade and squad cars pulled him over to talk to him. Timbaland was put in a patrol car and taken to his home, where they continued speaking with him and his family members.
Deputies called for paramedics to come and evaluate Timbaland, who determined he was not a threat to himself.
It is said that Timbaland’s distress was due to a theft that occurred at his Malibu residence on Monday. A $2 million Jacob & Co. watch was stolen and Timbaland suspects it might have been someone he trusted.
When the family could not locate Timbaland yesterday they were immediately concerned because he seemed deeply upset when they spoke to him earlier that day.
The Sheriff’s Department is said to be investigating the theft and potential suspects.
On Ryan Seacrest’s KISS-FM radio show Wednesday,Timbaland said, “I don’t even know what happened, to be honest. I don’t know what people are talking about. Why would I commit suicide?”
“Something did happen,” he told Seacrest, confirming that he was robbed. “It wasn’t a watch [that was stolen]. It was something else.” And, Timbaland says, he “took a drive to figure out how I’m going to handle it,” while somebody close to him reportedly called the authorities, concerned about his well-being.
