In a Las Vegas courtroom on Monday morning, Paris Hilton pleaded guilty to two misdemeanors – drug possession and obstructing an officer – regarding her arrest for possession of cocaine on August 27. Her guilty plea earned her no jail time and a year of probation.
Paris Hilton pleaded guilty because the terms of the plea placed on probation for a year. If she is arrested for anything other than a minor traffic violation in the next year she will face a year behind bars.
Clark County Detention Center Justice of the Peace Joe Bonaventure, told Hilton, “The purpose here is to change your conduct.”
In addition to the probation, Hilton must pay $2,000 in fines, serve 200 hours of community service and complete an “intensive” substance abuse program.
After the hearing, the attorney told reporters, “She was treated like anyone else would be treated under the circumstances, and I’m very proud of the way she’s dealt with this. I think she’s on the road to success and I wish her personally the best.”
