The Office returns with it’s 7th season this Thursday September 23rd, and a few familiar faces are back in Scranton.
Even though it’s Steve Carell’s last season on the show, fans look forward to having Michael Scott’s romantic interest, Holly Flax, back. NBC confirmed in July that Amy Ryan will reprise her role as Holly this season.
Season 6 ended with Michael asking Sabre CEO Jo (Kathy Bates) if she’d bring Holly back on board. Writer/executive producer/cast member Paul Lieberstein told Zap2it that Ryan will appear in eight episodes, so fans will enjoy many Holly-Michael scenes this season. But Lieberstein also admitted,”Holly is not happy at all about coming back to Scranton.”
The future of The Office without Steve Carell isn’t bright to some fans. Even though Lieberstein doesn’t want Michael to leave Dunder Mifflin, he actually thinks Carell’s departure gives The Office a chance to refresh itself.
“To actually get to write someone out who’s a main character, it’s a cool opportunity. Not that I want Steve to leave, but in the long run it could benefit the series. No one wants to see him go. We still hope he changes his mind. But we are forced to imagine ‘The Office’ without him,” Lieberstein said.
Lieberstein gave Zap2it a few teasers for season 7. Jo’s son will join Dunder Mifflin as a part of “low-level” jobs he’s doing for Sabre. Dwight (Rainn Wilson) buys the building that Dunder Mifflin is set in. Lieberstein reveals that this will leave Dwight overworked so that Jim (John Krasinski) is able to pull hilarious pranks on him.
Last on Liberstein’s docket of spoilers, “Michael gets a cold sore, and he finds out that’s [a form of] herpes, so he feels the need to call every woman he’s ever been with and inform them.”
Ahh…what will come of The Office when the genius Michael Scott leaves? Well, we don’t have to think about that, just yet.
Don’t miss The Office’s season premiere tomorrow, Thursday Sept 23rd on NBC!
