Have you ever wondered what one of the richest men in the world’s house is like? Well, you’re in luck because Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg let Oprah Winfrey’s cameras enter his home.
Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg appeared on a live broadcast of Oprah on Friday, and also let Oprah’s cameras into his home. Apparently, one of the wealthiest men in the world lives in a humble rented house.
Zuckerberg’s scarcely furnished office has a table, three chairs, and two wooden shelves. The businessman shares his rented house in Palo Alto, California with his girlfriend, Priscilla Chan. The couple met in Harvard (Zuckerberg later dropped out).
Zuckerberg, 28, announced his $100 million donation to the Newark, N.J. public school system on Winfrey’s show. He had wanted to keep his donation private, but Winfrey encouraged him to go public.
Zuckerberg is currently studying Chinese with a tutor to get ready for his trip to China with Chan.
Zuckerberg admitted he’s hardly home since he works up to 16 hours a day at Facebook’s head office in Palo Alto.
Days away from the release of The Social Network, an unflattering film based on the Facebook founder’s college days, Zuckerberg tells Winfrey that the movie is just that.
“It’s a movie,” Zuckerberg said, insisting that real life is “not that dramatic.”
“The last six years have been a lot of coding and focus and hard work. But maybe it would be fun to remember it as partying and all this crazy drama,” Zuckerberg said. “It’s fun. A lot of it is fiction.”
Perhaps his hefty donation will soften the blow of the unflattering film depiction of Zuckerberg as a sex-crazed nerd.
The Social Network is due in theaters on October 1st (Click here to read more about The Social Network).
