The 52-year-old comedian told Parade Magazine about his decision to get healthy. “I always thought I was going to die before I was 60. My father died of a heart attack in his 40s. I’m not an idiot. The writing was on the wall.”

The Price Is Right host said, instead of having his “daily hamburger,” he practiced a healthy diet combined with daily exercise and willpower.

Once weighing in at 262 lbs, Carey now weighs only 182 lbs and continues working towards his goal: 170 lbs by Halloween.

“The hardest diet I was ever on was the one when I was fat. You can only wear fat clothes, you don’t feel good, your sex life gets damaged, you don’t have energy for anything. It’s horrible.”

Carey’s lifestyle change was also inspired by his fiancée, Nicole Jaracz’s 5-year-old son, Connor. Carey said he wanted to be able to keep up with Connor during playtime, instead of feeling winded.

“I’d be like, ‘Connor, I can’t,’ and he’d say, ‘C’mon, Dad!’ That was a terrible feeling. I thought, I’m never going to see him graduate high school,” Carey said.

Recently completing a 10k marathon, Carey is definetely able to keep up with Connor.

Carey insists on staying healthy, even though he has a slip-up once in awhile.

“Eating crappy food is not a reward – it’s a punishment. I look in the mirror and I feel like I’m in my 20s again. I feel like I have my whole life back. I could live to be 100 now.”

Congratulations Drew Carey!

A committed soap opera freak--err, fan, Rolla Bahsous was thrilled to begin her professional writing career writing about everything soaps. But her love for television did not stop at daytime! Rolla is excited to be using her guilty pleasure, following celebrity gossip, at FabulousBuzz.com. Rolla's had a few encounters with her favorite celebs, including a fingertip brush and a "Take care, sweetheart" from Michael Buble, as well as a flying kiss from Nick Carter - in both incidents Rolla forgot how to breathe. Rolla's University of Toronto degree in communications, political science, and theater is evidence of her diverse interests. When she is not writing, Rolla enjoys her obsession with fairies, coffee shops, and working out, (while watching television, of course!).
