It’s official, ABC confirmed that Brad Womack is returning as The Bachelor.
Womack shocked audiences at his first round of The Bachelor during its 11th season, when he ended up choosing no one, but now he’s back and ready to find love…again.
ABC reported that Womack had undergone “intensive therapy” and has been on a “quite painful journey of self-awareness” since he had rejected both finalists, DeAnna Pappas and Jenni Croft, choosing to be alone.
According to ABC, Womack also admitted to having “commitment issues” back then.
In an interview that will air on Ellen tomorrow, Womack states, “More importantly, that [Bachelor] process is difficult. I thought that I was as open as I was supposed to be and clearly I wasn’t. I walked away and wound up all alone and left two girls standing there.”
Fans will wonder why the 37 year old bar owner is back for more in the show’s 15th season.
“Because I believe it can work, I don’t care if people call me an idiot or don’t believe those words coming out of my mouth. I truly believe that it can work. So here are 25 to 30 women that I never, ever would meet in regular life, and I’m clearly doing something wrong. I’m still single. So why not? I really do believe that this can work,” Womack told Ellen DeGeneres.
Womack also said he’d walk away all over again if he didn’t feel it was right in the end.
But have no fear, Bachelor fans, Womack also insists he takes this show seriously.
“Again, I take this very seriously. I know it’s tough to believe it’s a television show but…I am a completely different person. I don’t want to visit that thought.”
Bachelor host Chris Harrison told People, “At first I was skeptical. But the more I thought about it, the more I fell in love with the idea of him coming back, getting another shot.”
After receiving criticism that caused him to go into hiding, Womack returned to the public eye, beginning with his summer appearance on ABC’s 20/20 to apologize to Pappas, who is now engaged to a schoolteacher, Stephen Stagliano. The couple plans on marrying next Spring.
Harrison stood up for Womack saying, “I don’t think Brad deserved as much of the anger and resentment from the fans. He’s come out a better man and I think he’s ready to do this.”
What do you Bachelor fans think? Are you happy Womack is the next Bachelor, or would you have preferred another dreamy hunk?
