Football Hall of Famer QB Kurt Warner, who is competing on season 11 of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, tells ESPN that being on the show isn’t all about winning.
Warner spoke with ESPN about why he decided to be on DWTS and the experience.
“Yes, I’m competitive and want to do well, but that’s not why I’m doing the show,” said Warner. “I just want to show a different side of myself. Showing that you can still enjoy life and still be a faithful man. You can love your God and serve him the right way.”
Warner and his wife, Brenda, established the Kurt Warner First Things First Foundation in 2001, which promotes the public charity that shares blessings with those in need. Warner says that this foundation is one of the main reasons he is doing the show.
“I’m reaching a different audience dancing,” Warner said. “They are finding out who I am and what I’m about. Along the way, maybe they’d want to vote for us. Or not. We just want to get out our message. Granted, if I stay around longer, I’d have a stronger impact.”
Kurt Warner is paired up with professional dancer Anna Trebunskaya and has done well in his first two performances.
“My partner is awesome. She’s a great coach. We’re having a good time,” Warner said. “It’s really not that much different from being coached on a football field. I understand I’m not the expert. I just need to listen, and everything will fall into place.”
The elimination show for week 2 of Dancing with the Stars season 11 will air tonight on ABC at 9/8 c.
