Madonna and her daughter Lola (formally Lourdes Ciccone Leon) have just released their clothing line for Macy’s department stores, and “Make Me Wanna Dieeee-ah” rocker and roller Taylor Momsen is the face of their new Material Girl fashions.
Joining the likes of Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, Sarah Jessica Parker, Victoria Beckham and Gwen Stefanie, Madonna has jumped on the fashion designer bangwagon for celebrities, and she’s giving all the credit to her teen daughter Lola. The clothing line is an affordable collection of shoes, dresses, accessories, swimwear, and lingerie.
During their opening at Macy’s in New York, Lourdes said of her mother’s iconic fashions as her inspiration, “Oh my God, like, absolutely,” she said. “There’s some definite pieces, like the tulle skirt. That was, like, her thing. The necklaces, the gloves, the lace tights, the combat boots with the skirts. It’s tough [and] girly.”
“Lola has been so inspiring, and it’s been so great to watch her focus, her determination.” Madonna said. “I’ve achieved many things in my life, but I have to say watching my daughter make her dreams come true and achieve her goals is more exciting than anything I’ve ever done.”
Lourdes also said that Lady Gaga and Gossip Girl’s Taylor Momsen fashions inspire her as well. Material Girl’s spokeperson Taylor told Stylist.com, ”It was such an honor to be chosen by Madonna and Lola. Madonna is the original Material Girl. She’s the one who did it for herself and did it to the fullest and — without using profanity — she said, ‘This is who I am, and this is who I’m going to be’ and she stuck to that all through her reinventions. And this line really reflects that.”
