My Week With Marilyn, starring Michelle, is based on Colin Clark’s diaries about Marilyn’s famous work with Sir Lawrence Olivier for the film The Prince and the Showgirl. Marilyn, who had just married Arthur Miller, was the responsibility of Colin Clark, The Prince and the Showgirl’s assistant. During this week, Colin introduced Marilyn to idyllic British life, allowing her to escape the pressures of Hollywood.

My Week With Marilyn, directed by Simon Curtis and produced by David Parfitt, boasts an all British cast alongside the Brokeback Mountain Oscar-nominated leading actress. The cast includes Kenneth Branagh as Olivier, Tony award winning Eddie Redmayne as Colin Clark, Julia Ormond in the role of actress Vivien Leigh, Judi Dench as Dame Sybil Thorndike, and Dominic Cooper playing Milton Greene… Derek Jacobi and Harry Potter’s Emma Watson will also appear.

Shooting takes place in London at Pinewood Studios over seven weeks.

“We are truly thrilled to be working with the immensely talented Simon Curtis on his feature debut,” says Harvey Weinstein from The Weinstein Company. “From a remarkable true story, beautifully realised script, stellar cast and top-notch crew, we couldn’t be happier embarking on this production.”

Michelle’s most recent big screen appearance was playing Leonardo DiCaprio’s deceased wife in thriller Shutter Island. Her first acting debut was playing Jen Lindley in Dawson’s Creek.

Following in Michelle’s footsteps, Naomi Watts is set for the role of Marilyn in the movie Blonde, based on the 2000 fictional biography of the star written by Joyce Carol Oates. Shooting for Blonde is projected to start in the beginning of 2011.
