Madonna’s Hard Candy Fitness Centers, named after her 2008 album, will open in her favorite cities, beginning with Mexico City on November 29. Her manager Guy Oseary and New Evolution Ventures (NEV) are joining the singer on her new endeavor.
“‘Madonna’s input will be reflected in the music, space, light and design,’ according to Mark Mastrov, chairman of New Evolutions Ventures, one of her partners in the plan. Mastrov founded the 24 Hour Fitness chain,” an LA Times blog reports.
The 52-year-old icon has lead fitness trends over the years, such as her pilates, yoga and macrobiotic diet craze. For three years Madge had also partnered with celebrity trainer Tracy Anderson from who she split with last year due to Tracy’s “personal baggage” turning into a distraction. She was introduced to the revolutionary fitness guru by friend and actress Gwyneth Paltrow.
Following Mexico City, facilities will open in major cities in Russia, Brazil, Argentina - and in Europe and Asia. The United States remains hopeful, despite a slightly bruised ego, that we too shall have our very own Hard Candy Fitness Center one day.
