On The Ellen DeGeneres Show airing Monday, DeGeneres enthusiastically asked Swift, “Are you optimistic about love? How do you feel about love right now?”

“I’m always optimistic about love,” Swift, 20, replies.

“So you’re always optimistic about love?” DeGeneres repeats.

“Yes, always, sometimes,” Swift responds.

“But right now you are?” DeGeneres persists.

Swift replies, “Well, why wouldn’t anyone be?”

Here’s when DeGeneres flat out asks, “Especially if your boyfriend is Jake Gyllenhaal, because he is very handsome. Y’all are just hanging out though, right?”

Without confessing to anything else, the country star admitted that she and Gyllenhaal were photographed together in New York last weekend (read more here).

“But it’s just y’all hanging out – this does not prove anything. I’m just saying he’s adorable and I like him very much, and so if that is the case that he’s your boyfriend, I think that’s fantastic,” DeGeneres concludes.

While Swift admits that her songs are about past relationships, DeGeneres implies Gyllenhaal might be the next victim of her lyrics if things don’t go well. She asks, “Wouldn’t he be nervous if anything goes wrong?”

Exactly my thoughts, Ellen! Except I still think he could do much better than Swift.
