The Whitney Eve designer has moved on to bigger and better things since MTV axed her reality series The City, which chronicled her career as a clothing designer.
And by bigger and better I mean that she is leaving MTV for the internet - in search of a real-life Ken Barbie doll.
Discussing The City cancellation, Whitney Port told Ryan Seacrest’s KIIS-FM radio show, “As of right now it doesn’t really look like we’re doing it anymore,” And when asked if The City could possibly move from MTV to another network, 25-year-old Whitney said, “No, at this point it’s not.”
“I’m working on some other things,” she said. “It’s okay, one door closes and another opens.” The open door that she’s referring to is her latest gig as a web host for an online series called Genuine Ken: The Search for the Great American Boyfriend. Whitney expressed on her blog, ”The purpose of the show is to find a guy that embodies all of the qualities of Barbie’s longtime boyfriend, Ken.”
The show is being produced as part of toymakers at Mattel’s 50th anniversary of the Ken doll next year, reports Variety.com.
According to Star Pulse, senior Vice President of Mattel Girls brands Stephanie Cota explains, “[Ken's] getting a makeover to make sure he’s still as culturally and visually relevant as Barbie is. He’s getting a little work done to get ready for his 50th anniversary.”
“With a 50-year history, you have people who have been embracing (Barbie and Ken) from day one. The series is a great way for us… to have grown-up girls and boys stay connected to the brand.”
As for Whitney’s love life, it’s still going strong. She and boyfriend Ben Nemtin from MTV’s The Buried Life have been dating since the beginning of this year and were recently spotted on a romantic vacation together in Waikiki, Hawaii.
