Jessica Simpson ‘Saddened’ By Nick Lachey’s Engagement

Jessica Simpson is “deeply saddened” by the news that her ex-husband, Nick Lachey, is engaged to Vanessa Minnillo.

A source close to Simpson claims, “Even though Jessica wants to be happy for Nick, this is a very difficult time for her. Nick was the love of her life then and he was her first, so she will always have a very special place in her heart for him. She’s deeply saddened.”

Simpson and Lachey were married in October 2002 and divorced in 2006. Lachey and Minnillo reportedly started dating just months after his divorce from Simpson was finalized.

According Lachey’s friends, he hadn’t planned on marrying again, but feels secure with Minnillo.

“Nick knows what it’s like to lose someone that you love and wasn’t going to let it happen again. He never thought he would ever get married again after Jessica broke his heart. He never thought he would ever allow himself to be vulnerable again, but after dating for a long time he trusts Vanessa and knows she’s the girl he wants to spend the rest of his life with,” an insider told PopEater.

Probably a bit awkward learning that an ex is getting married, but isn’t four years and several relationships enough not to feel “deeply saddened”? What do you guys think? Poor Jessica?
