Amanda Seyfried Starring in ‘Red Riding Hood’ Remake

Mamma Mia’s Amanda Seyfried stars alongside Shiloh Fernandez in the remake Red Riding Hood, which has been referred to as a Twilight spinoff, especially since it is directed by Catherine Hardwicke, who also directed Twilight.

Replica or not, audiences love a fantasty thriller centering around a forbidden romance between two beautiful people. Watch the newly released trailer of Red Riding Hood, and see why Bella and Edward may just be lurking in the shadows…

Is the pale skin? The glowing forest? The mysterious werewolf villan? Or maybe even the “I’m wrong for you,” muttered by the character Peter played by Shiloh that renders an “I don’t care” response by Valerie, the role played by Amanda. Red Riding Hood, which is slated to hit theaters in March 2011, is a story about a girl living in a village that is terrorized by a werewolf. The girl, Valerie, falls in love with an orphaned woodcutter against her family’s wishes.

In an interview with The Seven, Amanda tells MTV, “Red Riding Hood is a classic fairy tale that we all know, and what fans can expect from this version of the story is that it’s basically just a jumping-off point. Catherine Hardwicke has just completely turned this story into something edgy and gothic and dark.”

The actress emphasizes the horror aspect of the film, depecting it as a whodunnit with romance, danger and frightening elements. Amanda adds, “Fans will be surprised by the tone of the film. Catherine just completely throws it into this dark world, and it’s a little scarier than it was meant to be when it was written.”

Don’t expect a real life romance to develop between Amanda and Shiloh though. The Dear John actress is reportedly just looking for fun after her long-term relationship with Dominic Cooper. She’s recently been rumored to have hooked up with Ryan Phillippe after Kate Hudson’s Halloween party.
