Barbara Walter’s Most Fascinating People of 2010: ‘Jersey Shore’

Barbara Walters announced her top 10 Most Fascinating People of 2010, and the cast of Jersey Shore made the cut. In their company are other superlative superstars such as pop singer Justin Bieber, TLC’s and former Alaskan Gov. Sarah Palin who makes the list for the third consecutive year and newly engaged British royalty Kate Middleton.

During the special, Walters gets an educational seminar on Jersey Shore etiquette, which includes GTL, smooshing and the threat of grenades. The seven MTV housemates who make the list as a group lay down the facts.

“I need a lesson. Okay, because you have your own language. So you gotta help me, ‘GTL,’” Walters told the cast during their interview.

According to ABC News, the Jersey Shore cast told Walters during their interview on the 18th annual special how they plan on cashing in their massive paychecks. After Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi pays off her mother’s mortgage, the party girl famous for her love of pickles and hair poof plans on buying a house with Jenni “JWOWW” Farley. The pair have been looking in Long Island, NY.

During Walters’ interview with Sarah Palin, star of her own docu-series Sarah Palin’s Alaska, the 2008 vice-presidential candidate puts rumors to rest by clearing the air that, “there is a lot of BS out there.” Palin sets the record straight with Walters by addressing her nonexistent marital problems, a $20 million divorce rumor and accusations made about her children Trig and Track.

“I don’t want to just believe that it comes with the territory, when you put yourself forward, in the name of public service, that you have to take that kind of garbage that’s out there,” Palin said.

Singer and tween hearthrob Justin Bieber also chats with Walters about his parents’ divorce, his mother’s substance abuse and how important it is that his mother play the role of his mom and not be involved with his career.

“My mom is just here to be my mom. You know, I don’t really want her all in the business side of things, because it seems to pull a lot of relationships away. I’ve seen it so many times where you then think of your mom as your manager and not your mom,” Bieber said.

The remaining individuals who made the list are comedic icon Betty White, American Idol host Jennifer Lopez, Academy Award winning actress Sandra Bullock and NBA star Lebron James.

Thinking about Walter’s interview with Sarah Palin last night I realized how much Walter’s does not like her. First of all – did she not have anything else to talk to Palin about except that old interview with Couric about how much she reads?? Also – I find it degrading that Walter felt the need to call Sara’s husband into the interview. If she was interviewing a male politician I’m sure she would not have invited the wife into the interview.
