Rising star Lea Michele, who’s known as Glee’s talented and self-centered Rachel Berry, has been making a name for herself in Hollywood and the music industry. Michele will be honored on Thursday with Billboard’s “triple threat” award at the “Women in Music” luncheon in New York City.
The singer/dancer/actress has also appeared on Teen Vogue’s cover with co-star Cory Monteith, both who were among the cast that stirred up controversy over sexualized GQ photos. Besides showing off her quirky conservative sex appeal, she is recognized for her trio of talents.
Michele will be honored with Jazmine Sullivan, who is receiving the Rising Star Award, and Black Eyed Peas artist Fergie, awarded as Billboard’s Woman of the Year.
According to AP Music Writer Nekesa Mumbi Moody for ABC News, Michele said in a phone interview, ”We worked so hard over here at Glee and we put together these mini-movies every week that is filled with dancing and singing. It feels like such a nice sort of wonderful recognition.”
In response to whether the star is recording her own album like co-stars Michael Morrison and Mark Salling, she said that she is really taking her time.
“It will be somewhere in my future but right now we are so busy over here,” she said. With so many popular Glee soundtracks and hit singles that have hit the charts she adds, “I feel like I’ve already sort of made albums.”
Michele told Billboard, “I’m really excited. At work we have a nickname for Matthew Morrison – we call him ‘Triple Threat,’ because he’s an incredible singer-dancer-actor. And now I get to borrow that phrase, which is really cool.”
