Dane Cook’s half brother admitted to embezzling money from the comedian and has been ordered to pay Dane Cook the $12 million he stole from him.
The Boston Globe reported that Dane Cook’s brother and sister-in-law, Darryl and Erika McCauley, were ordered by the Massachusetts attorney general’s office to repay Cook $12 million that they admitted to embezzling.
Darryl McCauley worked as Cook’s business manager, making a salary of $12,500 per month from Cook, when he embezzled the money.
“It’s a terrible betrayal,” Cook told Larry King. “Woke up one day and a lot of stuff was missing. There is a good chunk of money that is certainly not accounted for. That’s all I can say about it at this point.”
In October of this year, Darryl McCauley was sentenced to prison on charges of larceny, forgery, embezzlement and other charges. Darryl’s wife, Erika McCauley, was sentenced time in prison for charges of larceny as well.
