Back-up dancer Alex Welch, who was at the receiving end of Demi Lovato’s fist, and her attorney ”announced plans this week to sue for punitive damages relating to assault, battery and mental stress,” according to Fox News.
Even more unsettling is that Alex’s Beverly Hills attorney Donald Karpel is rumored to have said that the young dancer is consulting with a plastic surgeon to fix her multiple injuries. Eh?
“Photos don’t appear to show anything serious or permanent injury. No bones are likely broken and her injuries appear to be of the same magnitude as walking into a door at night,” celebrity plastic surgeon Dr. Tony Youn, who does not treat Welch, told Pop Tarts. “Pain and emotional damage is different though and can’t be assessed by just photos. In two weeks she will look like nothing happened. It appears to be a person taking advantage of Demi’s fame to make a quick buck and get five minutes of fame.”
According to Alex, 18-year-old Demi was upset because she was reprimanded by tour managers for her behavior from the previous night. Demi believed that someone had told on her and threatened the dancers, including Alex.
“We were on the plane with the Jonases having this awesome time and I didn’t get a call or text from Demi or a ‘hey, you got a problem with me,’ nothing. And she walks up and punches me and literally walked away and got in her seat,” Alex told PEOPLE.
Alex was reportedly knocked out completely and had to receive medical attention. Demi was immediately removed from the plane and entered a rehab facility in Illinois.
The dancer’s attorney said that negotiations to settle the case outside of the court are being made. An amicable resolution is being discussed between both parties.
Perhaps Demi could tweet an apology?
