Oprah Winfrey Announces She’s Not a Lesbian

Oprah Winfrey dismisses the many rumors that she prefers women,  saying flat out, “I’m not a lesbian.”

Winfrey tells Barbara Walters in an interview that aired on ABC, “I’m not even kind of a lesbian. And the reason why [the rumor] irritates me is because it means that somebody must think I’m lying. That’s number one. Number two … why would you want to hide it? That is not the way I run my life.”

Winfrey, 56, has been rumored to be with her friend Gayle King, but Winfrey explains the close relationship they have is nowhere near lesbian. “She is … the mother I never had. She is … the sister everybody would want. She is the friend that everybody deserves. I don’t know a better person. I don’t know a better person,” the talk-show queen says, holding back tears.

“It’s making me cry because I’m thinking about … how much … I probably have never told her that. Tissue, please. I now need tissue. I’ve never told her that,” Winfrey added.

The interview aired on Thursday night on ABC and focused on the end of The Oprah Winfrey Show, as well as the beginning of Winfrey’s new cable network, The Opray Winfrey Network, also known as OWN.

So there you have it folks. She’s not lesbian and she’s happily unmarried. Now let her be!
