Last year Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper raised $32 million by endorsing the MAC AIDS fund. Because the superstars earned the make-up company the most in its history, they have signed Bad Romance singer Lady Gaga to be their spokesperson again for 2011.
Last year both Gaga and Cyndi each created their own signature, limited edition lipstick shade. Gaga created Viva Glam Gaga, ”a high lustre finish and cool blue-pink shade” that’s still available through MAC.
Supporting MAC in the fight against HIV/AIDS, Gaga said, “We want to make this trendy and fun. Sex education should be bright and vibrant and every woman should want to have this in her purse.”
The 2011 campaign has already been shot by Nick Knight and styled by Thierry Mugler head and Gaga’s personal friend Nicola Formichetti.
For 16 year, MAC Cosmetics has raised money for their MAC AIDS fund to raise awareness for HIV/AIDS, which was deemed to be a “gay disease.” All of the proceeds for every Viva Glam lipstick sold goes to those suffering from AIDS. Since the campaign started, the spokespeople chosen are alternative, influential and even provocative. Previous spokespersons include RuPaul, and KD Lang, Pamela Anderson and Dita Von Tees.
