MTV announced Wednesday that they signed an option deal with Jersey Shore star Paul “DJ Pauly D” Delvecchio for a new series.
The spin-off will focus on DJ Pauly D’s music career, away from the Jersey Shore.
“At the heart of ‘Jersey Shore’ is the unique and genuine cast and Pauly D truly embodies both qualities,” Chris Linn, executive vice president of programming and head of production for MTV, said in a statement. “He’s distinguished himself onscreen as the fun-loving, well-coiffed and dependable guy you can’t help but want to hang out with. We know viewers are curious about his life away from the shore and we look forward to exploring new possibilities around that.”
Jersey Shore has become the most watched show of all time on MTV, so it is no surprise to see spin-offs happening.
The pilot for Pauly D’s new show was shot in September, but the premiere date for the show has not yet been revealed.
The third season of the Jersey Shore will premiere January 6, 2011 on MTV.
