Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Camille Grammer, who is contemplating quitting the reality show, told Ellen on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that her soon-to-be ex-husband, Kelsey Grammer, pressured her to do Real Housewives.
“Kelsey wanted me to do it,” Camille, 47, said on Friday’s Ellen DeGeneres Show. “I didn’t want to do the show. I wasn’t ready to expose my life that way.”
“I was surprised that he wanted me to do it, too. I was like, ‘Are you crazy? Why are you making me do this?’ ” she says. “But he thought it would be good for me to do something that was separate from us being a couple.”
It was not long after the taping of the show began that Kelsey told Camille he wanted a divorce.
“I found out [Kelsey] wanted out of the relationship during the shooting,” Camille said. “A mutual friend called me and said, ‘I don’t like what he’s doing to you, and I don’t like the timing because you’re in the middle of shooting a reality show.’
“I called him that night and texted him – no answer from him,” she says. “I waited for three hours, and then he called me and said, ‘I don’t want to be married anymore.’”
Kelsey got engaged to a 29-year-old flight attendant just months after he told Camille he wanted a divorce.
Camille has recently considered quitting the show because of the way she was negatively portrayed. She has gotten a lot of backlash for things she has done and said on the show and has been criticized for having four nannies for her two children.
“Right now, as everybody knows, I’m going through a divorce,” she says. “If I would do [another season], it would be to try to change my image – to try to change it around and have people see the other side of me that you don’t see on TV.”
