According to New York Magazine’s Vulture, there was a bit of a mix-up as Eastwood was originally under the impression that Theron agreed to play Hoover’s personal secretary, Helen Gandy. Theron’s agents reportedly said ‘yes’ to Eastwood even though she actually rejected the role.

Theron apologized to the legendary director for the misunderstanding.

Theron apparently has her eyes on another role in director Tony Scott’s upcoming Alien prequel.

Too bad for Theron, Scott had already promised the lead role to Girl With the Dragon Tattoo star Noomi Rapace. Since Rapace is a largely unknown, foreign actress, 20th Century Fox is pushing for a rewrite so that another character’s minor role could be made into a larger role, which would go to someone more famous, like Theron. This character would be  Vickers.

Michelle Yeoh from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is reportedly unimpressed with this move, since Scott had originally cast her as Vickers.

Rumor has it the new script will soon await Theron’s approval, Stay tuned to see if she takes on this role.
