Actor John Travolta and his wife Kelly Preston have given the world the first look at their new baby Benjamin on the covers of People in America and Hello! in the UK.
Preston gave birth to Benjamin on November 23, 2010, in a hospital in Florida (the Scientologist couple opted for a silent birth, where few words are spoken and cries and screams from the mother are suppressed).
Travolta, 56, and Preston, 48, say that the birth of their son is “nothing less than a miracle” and “a new beginning” for the family, following the loss of their son Jett in 2009, who was 16-years-old.
“For us it’s been uplifting,” Travolta told People magazine. “He’s given the house a renewed spirit and purpose. He’s brought us a new beginning, and his presence has brought joy to all the people who have wanted the best for us.”
“They went through such a public tragedy losing Jett at age 16 and then later came the news of Kelly’s pregnancy, and it just did so much to buoy their spirits of course they tell people that Jett is always with them and will never leave them,” said People Magazine editor Suzanne Zuckerman.
The couple also has a 10-year-old daughter Ella Bleu, who they say is very excited about her new brother.
