Aretha Franklin has given her blessing to have her life story told on the big screen, and she wants Halle Berry to play her.
Franklin, 68, told TV talk show host Wendy Williams that she wants Oscar-winner Halle Berry to play her in the Hollywood biopic.
“Halle Berry is my pick. There’s a young Aretha that has yet to be named,” Franklin said.
There have been many producers that have tried to convince Franklin to allow her story to be told in a movie, but she’s dismissed the offers, until now.
“For the last four years, we’ve been talking about [the film], and I have had a number of offers. Unfortunately, they were not good offers. Now, we have something on the table,” Franklin explained.
Franklin revealed that a script is in the works while the financing behind the film is being put together.
