“You know sometimes the public and press gets it wrong. This is one of those times. 2010 was actually the best year of my life because I fell in love with my best friend. An amazing woman who stood behind me when the world turned their backs,” James told People. “I have never met anyone so kind and loving and committed to making the world a better place every day. My love for her is beyond description. So honored that she said ‘yes.’ Growing old with her is going to be a f***n’ blast!”

“There is no one else for me. He’s the one,” Von D says.

James’ divorce to Bullock was finalized in June 2010. James, 41, and LA Ink star Von D, 28, have been dating since the summer of last year.

James was helping Bullock celebrate her Golden Globe win just a year ago, but the engagement to his new fiancee doesn’t come as much of a surprise considering their very public display of affection for each other via Twitter.

“They say True love will always shine through,” James tweeted earlier this month. “The only reason I started Twitter again? so I could publicly profess my love for @thekatvond.”

“Baby?” he wrote later. “You make it so easy to do everything I can to show you how Amazing you are. I see it clear as a bell. My other half.”

She responded: “Thank you always supporting me and believing in everything I do. But most of all, thanks for being my best friend.”

Von D currently lives in Los Angeles and James lives in Austin, Texas. When asked if she would be moving to Austin to be with James, Von D said, “If only it were that easy. Having two places we call home will be good for now. In the end, home is where the heart is, and my heart’s with him.”
