Oprah Winfrey Network Cancels Mark Burnett’s Show

Oprah Winfrey cuts Mark Burnett’s show from her network.

Winfrey, the queen of daytime, has decided to focus on primetime programming for her new network, the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN).

Mark Burnett’s talk show, which would have been part of the daytime lineup, was cut from OWN’s programming. The network decided to focus on primetime shows instead.

Burnett’s show was supposed to debut in March and would have been similar to chat shows like The View.

Although his own show was cut, Burnett hasn’t been dismissed from OWN, since he is currently producing the reality competition for the network, Your OWN Show. OWN shall see if this show will follow the success of Burnett’s other creations including Survivor and The Apprentice.

Winfrey is currently filming her last season of her own talk show and is ready to move on to bigger and better things (read more).

A committed soap opera freak--err, fan, Rolla Bahsous was thrilled to begin her professional writing career writing about everything soaps. But her love for television did not stop at daytime! Rolla is excited to be using her guilty pleasure, following celebrity gossip, at FabulousBuzz.com. Rolla's had a few encounters with her favorite celebs, including a fingertip brush and a "Take care, sweetheart" from Michael Buble, as well as a flying kiss from Nick Carter - in both incidents Rolla forgot how to breathe. Rolla's University of Toronto degree in communications, political science, and theater is evidence of her diverse interests. When she is not writing, Rolla enjoys her obsession with fairies, coffee shops, and working out, (while watching television, of course!).
