The Green Hornet’s Seth Rogen, 28, and Little Fockers’ Barbra Streisand, 68, will be co-starring as mother and son in the road trip comedy My Mother’s Curse.
The film, slated for 2012, centers around Rogen’s character who is an inventer traveling across the country on a road trip with his mother selling his latest creation – an organic cleaning product. However, there are alterior motives between the two: Rogen’s character wants to reunite his mother with an old flame from her youth, and Streisand’s character tries to help her son overcome his fear of commitment.
My Mother’s Curse of Paramount Pictures is expected to begin filming this spring. The Hollywood Reporter also confirmed that The Proposal director Anne Fletcher, Cars screenwriter Dan Fogelman and producers Lorne Michaels, John Goldwyn and Evan Goldberg will be teaming up for the comedy’s production.
This will be Streisand’s third on-screen appearance within the past ten years. Her former roles include sex therapist Roz Focker in Meet the Fockers and Little Fockers. Marquee reported that the legendary singer has also expressed interest in playing Mama Rose in a remake of the classic musical Gypsy. Book writer Arthur Laurents has met with Streisand about the project. He is hoping that Tom Hanks will play Herbie, Rose’s love interest.
“Barbra loved the idea,” said Laurents.
Rogen’s collection of future film’s include Jay and Seth vs. The Apocalypse and the R-rated animated movie, Sausage Party, with Jonah Hill.
