Adrianne Palicki from Friday Night Lights will be playing Wonder Woman for an upcoming NBC TV series based on the DC comic book superhero.
“Reinvented as a Los Angeles-based vigilante,” the role of Wonder Woman also requires Palicki to play her two other personas: “public persona, mega-billionaire CEO Diana Themyscira, as well as her private persona, Diana’s ‘plain Jane’ assistant Diana Prince,” as described by MTV.
Prince will try to balance her superhero life with her personal life as she fights crime in Los Angeles.
Friday Night Lights director and producer Jeffrey Reiner will be directing the forthcoming pilot.
Lynda Carter, who iconically played Wonder Woman in the David E. Kelley series during the 70′s, tweeted, “Congratulations Adrianne!”
The 27-year-old actress starred for three seasons on Friday Night Lights, which just recently ended. She’s also starred on Supernatural and South Beach. Other short-lived acting gigs have included Lone Star and Aquaman. Palicki appeared on the big screen in the 2010 Legion and will return for the upcoming remake of Red Dawn.
According to Deadline Hollywood, Palicki was the only actress invited to audition for the role. (Thanks to Reiner!)
