Mila Kunis to Play the Wicked Witch of the West

Mila Kunis will star opposite James Franco in Sam Raimi’s Oz, The Great and Powerful.

Kunis will star in the prequel to the 1939 classic The Wizard of Oz. Oz, The Great and Powerful will tell the stories of  Glinda the Good Witch of the North, Evanorah, the Wicked Witch of the East, and her sister Theadorah, the Wicked Witch of the West.

Vulture reports that James Franco officially signed on to play Oz once Kunis landed the part of Theadorah.

In order to play the Wicked Witch of the West, Kunis will have to pass on the Hughes brothers’ big-budget live-action remake of the manga classic Akira. The film is struggling to hire a Hollywood A-lister in order to justify the huge budget. Brad Pitt was reportedly offered the part of Kaneda, but turned it down.

No official word on when Oz, The Great and Powerful will go into production.

I am so excited for this film. Is it too much to hope for the inclusion of musical numbers from Broadway’s Wicked?

A committed soap opera freak--err, fan, Rolla Bahsous was thrilled to begin her professional writing career writing about everything soaps. But her love for television did not stop at daytime! Rolla is excited to be using her guilty pleasure, following celebrity gossip, at Rolla's had a few encounters with her favorite celebs, including a fingertip brush and a "Take care, sweetheart" from Michael Buble, as well as a flying kiss from Nick Carter - in both incidents Rolla forgot how to breathe. Rolla's University of Toronto degree in communications, political science, and theater is evidence of her diverse interests. When she is not writing, Rolla enjoys her obsession with fairies, coffee shops, and working out, (while watching television, of course!).
