Known for covering timeless classics and hit pop songs every week, Glee switched things up and has recorded two original songs for the show. The first original song “Loser Like Me” debuted on the Ryan Seacrest radio show.
“Get it Right,” which was specially created for Lea Michele, was also released on Friday.
“Loser Like Me” and “Get it Right” were written by superstar producer Max Martin who’s know for his hugely successful pop songs sang by pop sensations like Britney Spears, Pink and Kelly Clarkson.
“The thing about Max is that he’s a huge fan of pop culture and he just loved the idea of being part of something that’s such a cultural phenomenon,” Glee’s music producer Adam Anders told EW.com. ”So it was actually not hard to convince him at all. He was all about it.”
“We’ve done like 30 of his songs on Glee,” Anders added.
Anders also described ”Loser Like Me” as a “Gleek anthem.”
“It’s a very uptempo, kind-of-summery hit,” he said.
Lea Michele’s character Rachel Berry inspired the “Get it Right” lyrics, which are based off of good intentions and doing the right thing that end up going wrong.
Glee’s original songs will appear on the show on March 15. “Glee: The Music, Vol. 5,” available March 8, will feature the songs. The album will also include Lady Antebellum’s “Need You Now,” Katy Perry’s “Firework,” Justin Bieber’s “Baby,” Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” and the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s “Heads Will Roll.”
