Hearing loss, nerve damage, and back pain from a dislocated vertebra – Phil Collins’ music career has taken a toll on his health.

After 13 hit singles, an Oscar for his song from Disney’s Tarzan, and seven Grammys, Collins, 60, has decided to leave the music industry for good.

According to Time, Collins told FHM, “I don’t really belong to that world and I don’t think anyone’s going to miss me. I’m much happier just to write myself out of the script entirely.”

“I’m sorry that it was all so successful. I honestly didn’t mean it to happen like that. It’s hardly surprising that people grew to hate me,” Collins added.

Collins lives in Switzerland, and is raising his two children with his third ex wife. He seems to have distanced himself from the music industry already, even telling his girlfriend, Dana Tyler, to call him Phillip.

Ever since Tarzan, I liked Phil Collins and never understood why people criticized him so much. It’s kind of sad that he thinks no one will miss him. I’m sure his fans will!

Rolla is excited to be using her guilty pleasure, following celebrity gossip, at Rolla's had a few encounters with her favorite celebs, including a fingertip brush and a "Take care, sweetheart" from Michael Buble, as well as a flying kiss from Nick Carter - in both incidents Rolla forgot how to breathe. Rolla's University of Toronto degree in communications, political science, and theater is evidence of her diverse interests. When she is not writing, Rolla enjoys her obsession with fairies, coffee shops, and working out, (while watching television, of course!).
