R.E.M. have announced that a short film will accompany each song on their new album Collapse Into Now.

Franco will direct two films for the tracks, That Someone is You and Blue. Other directors involved are Tom Gilroy, Sophie Calle, and Dominic DeJoseph.

Besides the Oscars host, other filmmakers that signed on to the project include Albert Maysles and R.E.M. singer Michael Stipe.

The project, titled Collapse Into Now Film Project, will be lead by Stipe. The band is set to release more information about screenings on its website remhq.com.

R.E.M. told Billboard that Collapse Into Now is the band’s best album since the 1991 record Out of Time.

“This is, song for song, the best thing we’ve ever done. A lot of people say we did our best work in the early ’90s. But 15 years later, here we are again,” guitarist Peter Buck said.

Collapse Into Now will hit stores on March 8th.
