Lady Gaga and Target have ended a deal to sell a special edition of Gaga’s new CD in Target stores.
A representative for Gaga said Wednesday the two sides “came to a mutual decision to end their overall exclusive partnership a few weeks ago.”
The deal that was announced last month would have Target exclusively selling a deluxe edition of Gaga’s upcoming album, to be released May 23, with bonus content.
Although her rep says it was mutual decision, the story is that Gaga pulled out the deal because gay advocates were concerned about the partnership because Target’s donations to a political candidate who was against gay marriage.
Target says it’s “very surprised and disappointed” and that it remains committed to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.
