Another contestant was voted off FOX’s American Idol season 10 last night, revealing this season’s top 10.
This week’s show was Motown themed. Here is what each contestant sang:
Casey Abrams – Marvin Gaye’s “I Heard It Through the Grapevine”
Thia Megia – Martha and the Vandellas’ “Heat Wave”
Jacob Lusk – Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell’s “You’re All I Need To Get By”
Lauren Alaina – The Supremes’ “You Keep Me Hangin’ On”
Stefano Langone – Lionel Richie’s “Hello”
Haley Reinhart – Smokey Robinson & the Miracles’ “You’ve Really Got a Hold On Me”
Scotty McCreery – Stevie Wonder’s “For Once In My Life”
Pia Toscano – Stevie Wonder’s “All In Love Is Fair”
Paul McDonald – Smokey Robinson’s “The Tracks Of My Tears”
Naima Adedapo – Martha & the Vandellas’ “Dancing In the Street”
James Durbin – Stevie Wonder’s “Living For the City”
The elimination show began with a group performance by the top 11 contestants with Stevie Wonder coming out on stage to perform, surprising everyone (even the judges!). The group performance ended with Stevie Wonder singing happy birthday to Steven Tyler.
Former American Idol contestant Jennifer Hudson and Sugarland performed on the elimination show as well.
This week’s bottom three contestants were Casey, Stefano and Thia. The contestant that received the least amount of votes this week was Casey. The judges didn’t even let Casey finish singing. They decided they were going to use their one save of the season.
Because the judges used the save this week, two contestants will go home next week AND all 11 contestants will go on tour this summer – not the usual top 10.
American Idol returns next week with the top 11 performing Wednesday, March 30 at 8/7c on FOX.
