Lindsay Lohan was sentenced to four months in jail for violation of probation after allegedly stealing a $2,500 necklace from a Venice, California jewelry store.
Lohan, 24, was booked into Lynwood Jail Friday night and was released just hours later on bail.
The actress was also sentenced to 480 community service hours, in which Lohan was ordered to perform 360 of them at the Downtown Women’s Center. “Then she will see how truly needy women have to live and that might change her,” Judge Stephanie Sautner said.
“She is angry because she has been working so hard on turning her life around,” says producer Nathan Folks, who is a close friend of Lohan. “She didn’t do what they said she did. She didn’t steal that necklace.”
Lohan is expected to appeal the sentence, which experts say it is unlikely she will win. Her trial for the misdemeanor theft case will begin June 3.
